Immigration & mobility
Investor residence in Luxembourg
Luxembourg offers an investor residence permit to third country nationals who make a significant investment: the creation or development of a company, an investment in an existing structure, or a deposit with a financial institution, according to thresholds set by law. The firm structures both the investment and the residence file.
Legal content reviewed by Maître Cora Maglo, Avocate à la Cour, Liste I du Barreau de Luxembourg depuis 2009.
Residence by investment combines immigration law and legal structuring: the permit is issued only if the investment meets precisely the statutory categories and thresholds.
Cerno Law Firm aligns the structuring of the investment (often through a company) with the residence permit application.
The need
You wish to reside in Luxembourg by investing there.
The investment must correspond exactly to the statutory categories and thresholds.
The risk
An ineligible investment, unsuitable amounts or structure, refusal of the permit despite the funds committed.
A poorly designed arrangement can cause the application to fail.
How we help
Choice of the investment category, legal structuring (company, compliance), preparation and filing of the residence file.
Alignment with the substance and the compliance of the structure.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which investment categories give rise to a right to the permit?
Mainly the creation or development of a company, an investment in an existing structure, or a deposit with a financial institution, according to statutory thresholds. The firm checks eligibility.
Does the investment guarantee the permit?
No: the investment must comply with the statutory categories and conditions, and the residence file must be complete. The structuring is decisive.
Can citizenship be sought afterwards?
Residence can, over time and once the conditions are met, open the way to citizenship through naturalisation.
